Users or Waters field service personnel can replace the pump mixer.
Warning: Observe Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) at all times, particularly when working with hazardous materials. Consult the Safety Data Sheets regarding the solvents you use. Additionally, consult the safety representative for your organization regarding its protocols for handling such materials.
Note: To avoid contaminating system components, wear clean, chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves when performing this procedure.

1/4-inch open-end wrench
3/8-inch open-end wrench
Replacement mixer
Note: There is an optional 690-μL diffusion bonded mixer kit that offers significantly better mixing performance than the traditional 675-μL or 680-μL mixers, resulting in lower compositional noise and a quieter baseline in select applications. To replace the mixer:
Flush the pump with nonhazardous solvent.
Stop the solvent flow.
Open the pump compartment door.
Remove the mixer from the mixer clip.
Using the 3/8-inch open-end wrench to hold the mixer in place, disconnect the outlet compression fitting using the 1/4-inch open-end wrench.

Using the 3/8-inch open-end wrench to hold the mixer, disconnect the inlet compression fitting using the 1/4-inch wrench.

Unpack the replacement mixer.
Note: Ensure that the arrow on the mixer is pointing from left to right.
Reattach the compression fittings to the mixer and tighten them finger-tight, plus as much as an additional 1/6-turn for existing fittings or 1/2-turn for new fittings.
